I was playing around with DOF(Mental Ray) in 3Ds Max 2013. Here are some sample images that i got:

Lego.

Trying out nvidia Mental Ray iray. Rendering time: 1:00:00 Simulated using MassFX for 3Ds Max 2013 I like the new iRay rendering engine in 3Ds Max 2013. All you do is set the amount of time you want the render the image for and Ta-Da. Ya it not perfect (some white spots all over the image) but i like it. MassFX is amazing. Super Easy to use and awesome results in very little time.

Aston Martin DB9 - 3Ds max 2011

Image
I recently started using 3Ds max 2011 after having used the 2009 version for almost 2 years. The new version has quite a few improvements and i was really impressed with new material editor. It is node based which makes it very easy to operate and use. I also experimented with C.A.T. (Character Animation Tools) for 3Ds Max and it is an absolutely amazing piece of software making character rigging extremely simple to do. I will experiment around with it a bit more before putting up a tutorial on it. Anyway this post is about the Aston Martin DB9 model made in 3Ds Max 2011 :           Size : 2,70,000 faces           Renderer : Mental Ray           System : i7 860 with 4GB RAM           Image Resolution : 3840x2160           Number of Images : 4           Total Time Taken ...

Ferrari F430 with HDRI / How much of rendering Ogre-Rig take ?

Image
Just to clarify "Ogre-Rig" is not some wired space age monster that lives in the jungle and renders 3D images for fun it is just a normal computer that has been named so as it belongs to a friend Ogre (Mudit Gupta) . Moving on. Here i setup a scene using an earlier made model of a  Ferrari F430 . But this time instead of using a daylight system in 3Ds max i decided to use HDRI with Final Gather to light up the scene.I took me a bit of time to get the settings right and the shadow generation part was really annoying but i finally did it (Will post a tutorial soon explaining how to make your own HDRI image lighting with shadows and what exactly is HDRI ). Note: I downloaded the HDRI images from www.openfootage.net . The specifics of the scene are: Polygons : 202092 Lights : 5 (Ray Traced Shadows) , 1 HDRI Lighting system Image Resolution : 3840x2560 Renderer : Mental Ray 3Ds Max Version : 2011 Image Precision (Anti-aliasing) : High ( Min =1 , Max=16) Final Gather...

Here are some renders of a Ferrari F430 model made and textured by me using 3Ds max 2009 with mental ray. Here is a video of the same model with the color transition done in After Effects CS3.
